As we go along in the season, we want to keep you posted on the most recent events. However, we don't want you to feel as if you missed anything either.
With that, we are going to keep the more current news and announcements on the front page. On this page we will archive some of the older
stuff so that way it still remains available but does not cause you to scroll endlessly looking for something.
Enjoy !!

Clay wins the Large School Division Championship @ GMVWA Invitational
December 27-28, 2008
The Eagle wrestling team picked right up where they left off from last weekend's Bobcat Duals, but this time they do one better as they win the Large School Division Championship
at the GMVWA Holiday Invitational Tournament held at Vandalia-Butler. Clay came out of the gates winning 12 of their first 14 matches taking the team lead after the first session.
The Eagles never looked back as they were able to fend off a late run from the two-time defending champions of the Large School Division, Miamisburg. Overall Clay finished 2nd
in the tournament behind national powerhouse St. Paris Graham.
FINAL TEAM SCORES - LARGE SCHOOL DIVISION:
1. Oregon Clay: 128
2. Miamisburg: 125
3. Vandalia-Butler: 119.5
Each Eagle wrestler scored at least one victory at this tournament thus earning valuable team points. By the fact Clay won by only 3 total points, everyone of them proved to be
absolutely necessary and epitomizes the phrase "total team championship."
Individual place winners for Clay were:
103: Nick Garcia - 6th Place
119: Richie Urias - 3rd Place
130: Kirk McLaughlin - 3rd Place
160: Justin Wharton - 4th Place
171: Ben Morrissey - 6th Place

in the individual weight classes with 12 wrestlers ranked to include Nick Garcia (103), Richie Urias (119), Kirk McLaughlin (130), Justin Wharton (160) and Ben Morrisey (171)
all ranked 1st in their respective weight.

EAGLE GRAPPLERS ROLL IN FIRST DUAL MEET ACTION OF THE SEASON
December 10, 2008
The Clay wrestling team opened up the 2008-2009 dual season at home by hosting the Whitmer Panthers and St. Johns Jesuit Titans in a Tri-Meet. Clay went head-to-head with
the Panthers first and promptly won 12 of the 14 weight classes on route to a 66-6 victory. After a 15 minute break, the Titans came out to the mat and much like the
first dual, Clay started out quickly and were never threatened as they defeated the Titans 66-9.
The next league dual meet for the Eagles will be January 14th against the Start Spartans and Central Catholic Fighting Irish.
ALL THREE SQUADS COMPETE ON OPENING WEEKEND
December 6, 2006
The opening weekend of competition was a busy one the Eagles as the Gold, Green, and freshmen teams were all in action. The Gold team took 5th place at the Solon Comet Classic,
one of the tougher opening tournaments in the state. Battling toe-to-toe with many of Northeast Ohio's finest wrestlers, the team more than held its own as six Clay wrestlers earned awards
- led by the 130 lb. champion, senior Kirk McLaughlin. Justin Wharton (Sr.) finished 3rd at 160 lbs, whlie Ben Morrissey (Sr.), Mark Orth (Jr.), and Richie Urias (Sr.) finished 4th at 171 lbs,
145 lbs and 119 lbs, respectively. Josh Whitt (Sr.) finished 5th at 112. Every Eagle wrestler walked away with at least one victory. Good job, Gold team!
While the Gold team was off to the Cleveland area, the Green team was in action locally at the Jim Derr Invitational tournament at Northwood High School.
Showing their mettle, the Green team grappled their way to a 2nd place finish behind Wauseon. Led by Mike Ackerman's 1st place finish, several Eagles battled their way to a spot on the podium
including 2nd place finishes at Garrett Ondrus (Sr. - 145 lbs), Cody Kish (So. - 119 lbs), Matt Kohler (So -152 lbs), and Mike Screptock
(Fr. - 103). Jesse Castilleja (So. - 171 lbs) finished 3rd, Jeremy Richard (So. 130 lbs) finished 4th, and Chris Cook (So. 140 lbs) finished 5th. A solid job by the Green team!
Seeing their first competition in Eagle uniforms, the freshmen team wrestled in the Andy Bates Freshmen Tournament at Maumee High School. Led by Garrett Gray's 1st place finish,
the young Eagles fought their way to a 4th place finish. Nice job, freshmen!
